  Racal 4224

is a voice scrambler, that can be used independently from a special radio family, since it is connected into the AF connection. It can be used with radios as well as with telephone equipment.

Three programs can be chosen by a switch on the front side.

Data can be programmed either by a fill gun or by hand. There is no display, so programming by hand is very difficult.

The scrambler is built from conventional parts. Three circuit boards are used (Digital, analogue and Logic- board), connected by flat (computer-) cables. They can be folded apart easily for maintenance. No microprocessor is used- only CMos- Logic.

A row of connectors/plugs on the left side of the logic- board are used to configure the set. There are no descriptions on how this configurations.
