PRM4031
was built by RACAL in the early 80s. I could not find
out where it was used. It is a very compact HF- SSB- transceiver.
This special radio, however, was taken from an Iraq soldier during the last conflict there.
It uses very ample accessories :
Various hand- or headsets,
A loudspeaker- amplifier, powered from the radio,
CW key,
Remote control (up to 3 km via a 2-wire cable),
Various rod- and wire- antennas,
Mast- kit, 5.4 m,
Interface-box for vehicles,
Hand- crank generator,
Power supply,
100- Watt- amplifier,
and many more items.
Operational elements on the front are:
5 frequency control knobs,
Meter for (manual) antenna tuning and battery power,
2 audio connectors,
ON / off switch (also low / high output),
Mode switch,
Loudness knob,
Antenna tuning knob,
3 antenna connectors: rod antenna, BNC- connector for
1.6 .. 8 MHz, BNC- connector for 8 .. 30 MHz.
No data could be found about the voice scrambler MA 4224, belonging to PRM4031.
