PRC-1099A (Transceiver) and PRC-PS (Power supply)
PRC-1099A is a portable HF- transceiver. Its HF output is 20 W over a frequency range of 1.6 to 30 MHz
with a channel spacing of 10 Hz.
It is part of a modular radio set; together with various supplements and extensions several
portable, mobile and base stations can be put together,
while the manpack PRC-1099A always is the basic unit.
This basic unit can be removed quickly from all the radio sets, and used as a portable station.
The PRC-1099A can be remotely controlled, and is programmed from the front, or by computer.
The radio supports ALE (Automatic Link
Establishment)
The housing is the same shape and dimension as the well- known PRC-25 / 77. The battery connector on the underside is the same, too.
Used as portable radio, the carrying frame of the PRC-25 or PRC-77 can be used.
Various chargeable batteries or primary batteries are scheduled.
Many functions are checked by a self-test.
The automatic antenna tuning tunes the 3m- collapsible antenna connected to the antenna base,
or (with an adapter) a wire antenna; over the full frequency range of 1.6 to 30 MHz; the ATU does not tune the BNC- connector.
Up to 100 frequencies are automatically stored by the tuner, so these frequencies are tuned very fast and soundlessly.
When the collapsible antenna, or the adaptor for long wire antennas, is removed from the antenna base,
the transmitter output automatically is switched to BNC.
The portable radio set consists of:
Radio Set PRC-1099A, consisting of transceiver, battery box CY-2562 and
battery;
Carrying frame ST-138;
Carrying bag CW-503 for:
Antenna AT-271A,
Antenna base AB-591,
Handset H-250/U.
The collection contains the complete manpack and the battery charger / PSU PRC-PS.
To operate both devices together, you need:
AC- power cable or
DC- power cable;
Connecting cable PRC-1099A / PRC-PA.
Additional items present are:
12V- connecting / charging cable PRC-CA 12V
Long wire adapter PRC 1099LWA.
This adapter is inserted into the antenna base (instead of the collapsible rod antenna).
This way also long wire antennas can be tuned.

Battery charger / PSU / Loudspeaker PRC-PS:
The PRC-PS ist the PSU and a dual battery charger for the PRC-1099.
The device consists of Charger PRC-PS and battery housing CY-2526. besides it is a louspeaker with volume control.
The PRC-1099, connected to the PRC-PS, can as well be powered as be charged. Simultaneously, a second battery
can be charged on the backside of the PRC-PS.
The batteries get a quick charge up to a fixed voltage. Then the charging current is reduced gradually, until the
charging current is 1/10 of the nominal current. Thus, a full capacity is achieved.
Besides, a mounting is in the collection.
It is not the original one by Transworld,
but a mounting AM-2060, completely adapted for the PRC-1099 (or PRC-1099A).
