FuG 8b
At police and security organisation this radio is called FuG 8b. However it is also used by other
departments.
The radio in the collection was built by SEL under the term SEM/F 217 - 820 GW, and
used by a power company.
It is a radio for the 4m- band. It is used as a mobile and as a fixed station by the non public radio
service.
It is very small; even can be inserted in the place for the car radio receiver.
As a completely electronic radio, it has no relais.
The flexible frequency synthesizer allows a grid of 12.5, 20 and 25 kHz.
The transmitting time is automatically limited to 2 minutes..
A fast data transmission system can be connected.
The transmitted power is kept electronically at a constant level; the HF power amplifier is protected against
high temperatures, wrong polarity and overload.
The radio itself is protected against wrong polarity and an overload up to 30 V.
The AF- amplifier is protected against short circuit and high temperatures.
20 memory channels can be chosen from:
320 single frequencies (used as a simplex device) or
120 frequency pairs (as a duplex device, using upper and lower band.)
The radio consists of:
Main block SEM/F 217 (transmitting/receiving device),
Operating block BG 217-1 ,
Connecting cable in three lengths: 1.5, 5 or 10 meters. (Not in the collection).
The main block contains transmitter, receiver and a duplex switch (when transmitter and
receiver are using the same antenna).
All modules can be tested independently; and can be exchanged without adjusting the complete radio.
The operating block
contains display and operational elements.
It can be connected to:
* Handset
* Microphon
* PTT
* Loudspeaker
* Emergency call button.
