FuG 9
is a German BOS- radio. (Behörden und Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben.)
(public services).
All FuG 9 were developed and built by SEL , Telefunken only used its own logo on the loudspeaker cover and
a nameplate of its own.
It is an all solid state BOS - radio in the 2m- band (the HF part, too, is transistorized). It can be used
as portable, mobile or fixed station.
200 channels in the lower and in the upper band are available. It can be used as a 200- channel simplex or a 100- channel
duplex radio.
To cover larger distances, the FuG 9 can be used as a fully automatic relais station.
A small relais station is a FuG9 used as a duplex radio (using two frequencies).;
A big relais station consists of two Fug 9 with an additional relais device, and uses duplex operation.
It theoretically works with simplex operation, but never was used that way.
A Funkgabel connects it to the wired telephone net; or by using two Funkgabel
or a relais device and another FuG9 serve as a "Big relais station" so a combination of 2 radios ( 2 times 2 meters
or 2m and 4m) is possible.
A separated front (with few operational elements) can be used, if there is not enough place available.
The FuG 9 has a built in transverter. The lower part of the radio can be: a battery box; an amplifier for external loudspeaker;
or a 220V- power supply.
This rare power supply is also part of the collection (see picture gallery).
