  ERUS-2A4

ERUS –2 is an under water-radio, using soundwaves in the high frequency range (35 kHz). Without using a a wire, underwater connections can be established between:

  • divers
  • divers and ships
  • divers and submarines
  • between ships.

    There are two different radios:
  • ERUS-2A4 : diver's radio (the radio in the collection)
  • ERUS-2B4 : to connect ships.

    Erus-2A4 comes in a sturdy watertight sheet metal box. The radio set consists of :

  • Transceiver (built into a aluminium cylinder) ;
  • Diver's mask with built in microphone ;
  • Special underwater headset .

    [ microphone and audio capsule are part of the collection, but no mask or headset ].

    It is powered by NICAD batteries.
    The transceiver is fastened to the upper leg by using two buckles.

    The microphone is in a mask covering the whole face. The headset is held in its place by the diver's hood. Radio and headset/microphone are connected by two special watertight miniature plugs, so all parts of the radio can be fastened one after the other.

    The equipment is used by the French Navy and other 40 Navies all over the world.
