    SP 20

is a solid state West German spy radio; it was developed by Telefunken.
The first issues , used by the BND, had a grey color and consited of:

  • Transmitter S 8600,
  • Antenna tuner ASG 6800,
  • Synthesizer KS 30,
  • Power supply,
  • Receiver KE 30 (a Prototype, not always included) and
  • Burst coder RT-3, "Speicher" or GRA-71.
  • Accessories

Later versions were painted green and carried in belt bags.
    The set consists of:
  • Transmitter S 8600,
  • Antenna tuner ASG 6800 and
  • Synthesizer KS 30,
  • Accessories.

  • This is the collection's version.

    All the housings have the same size: H 3.2 x L 15.5 x W 10.5 mm and a weight between 700 and 800 grams.

The Transmitter S 6800 works in CW (A1) mode. Like all spy radios, a key or a burst coder can be used. The transmitter is protected against wrong operation.

The Synthesizer KS 30 was issued, working in 1 kHz increments. The frequency is switched by pushbuttons and is indicated by 7- segment- LEDs.

The antenna tuner ASG 6800 is operated manually and tunes all kinds of antennas. Six filters for 3.2, 4.6, 7, 11, 16 and 24 MHz can be switched. To test the transmitter, the signal can be switched to a dummy load.
A small accessory box also is part of the set.
