Marinetta 3
Is a naval distress radio, working on three distress frequencies . No infos could be
found so far, even Marine Radio specialists could not help.
It was built by Skanti, like the more common successors.
Obviously, the model was the SCR-578/BC-778 (also called "Gibson Girl").
The housing, the hand crank, the CW- mechanism and even the connecting plug are absolutely equal.
(see the picture gallery).
However, unlike the SCR-578/BC-778 (a transmitter), the Marinetta 3 is a transceiver.
Three fixed frequencies can be used in AM- mode.
By usinng a mechanical CW- Mechanism, emergency calls can be transmitted;
CW- calls can be sent by using the CW- key on the front of the radio.
The receiver is transistorised, the transmitter uses three tubes:
2 x ECC82 and 1 x 12A6.
