VS 68

is a Swiss avalanche- rescue- device. It is no SAR- Radio, but people buried by avalanches can be located. So it is a SAR- device.
The Swiss army had it developed by Autophon in 1968. The color is yellow. In 1988 an orange VS 68 appeared.

How it works:

VS 68 is as well beacon as receiver.
When used as transmitter, it emittes an interval signal.
By increasing or decreasing the receiver's sensitivity, the beacon can be located.
