R-134
ia a modern Russian HF- Radio. The first series was built in Hungary. At the beginning of the 80s the NVA noticed that the radios they used were inferior to
the NATO's radios. So they decided to introduce new equipment.
They were thought to be fully transistorized, synthesized and compatible to the old systems. Since the USSR had the same problems,
they were chosen the provide them.
In the mid of the 80s some radio sets were delivered for field tests. A new system was not introduced, because the GDR
disappeared at that time. However, the R-134 is used in many Eastern contries.
Most R-134 in private hands are made in Hungary (having the best connection to Western technology during those years). But the
radio in the collection is made in USSR.
There are variants T1, T2, A1, A2 and V , using different additional sets (like telagraphy converter,
manual or automatic ATU etc.). The fundamental equipment always is the R-134.
Frequency is shown by nixie tubes; the many knobs in the middle of the front program 8 channels in the complete
