R-106
is a Russian backpack radio. It belongs to the first radio generation that was imported from the USSR to the GDR (1956).
It was used for communication between commanders of tank units and their soldiers in the field.
It was the last radio that used the AM mode; and was replaced by FM- radios R-105, R-108 and R-109.
The ?? Pendelaudion ?? used jammed nearby radios very much, especially when transmitting. So to avoid interference, the distance between two
radios must be 5m when receiving and even 80 m when transmitting.
It uses six tubes, while three of them have a double function.
The housing consists of plastic and has two chambers for the transceiver and the battery 2NKN24.
The lid is water protected.
