PRC-1088
is a VHF transceiver. It is downward compatible with PRC-77 , meaning that the mounting, booster or battery of PRC-77 may be used.
As a modern radio it can use frequency hopping over its complete frequency range.

The 1088 was originally designed by Collins. When at Collins, the commercial designation was MP-83 which became the PRC-124.
The rights were sold to
Transworld/Datron who produced the radios for some time. The radio is no
longer in production by Datron. The rights have been sold to China where
it is produced today.
